Tropical Paradise and Jay Robb

Another hot summer day in SoCal. I love summer but at the same time, I don’t like that I have to wake up earlier so that I can run comfortably and not get stuck in sweltering heat.  I don’t mind the heat if I was by the beach and there’s breeze, but I live more towards inland so it’s just hot.

I woke up at 6am to run early. I made tea and ate half a banana. I’m out the door by 6:30. Temperature read 75 degrees but it felt like 80 degrees.

My favorite running shoes looked extra bright today. I love my Nike Lunar Glides. So bright and colorful.

During my run, I tried to pick a route that had the most shade. I ran around the residential neighborhood that had a lot of trees instead of my usual route of busy streets. After 4 miles, I headed home. It was getting too hot. I was glistening with sweat and I can feel my forehead getting darker every minute. I notice that my face doesn’t tan evenly, my forehead is always 2 shades darker than the rest of my face.  Does that happen to you?

After my cool down walk, I had tropical paradise in mind and Jay Robb .

The people at Jay Robb sent me this wonderful package. So many varieties of protein powders, but can you guess which one I wanted to try first? If you guess the packet in the middle with a coconut on it, you are right!!! Today I felt like drinking something that reminds of tropical paradise.

I choose you PINA COLADA:

Tropical Paradise Protein Smoothie

  • Jay Robb Pina Colada protein powder
  • Almond Milk or Coconut Milk
  • 1/3 frozen banana
  • 1/3 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin coconut oil
  • sweetener of choice (optional)

In my opinion, good quality protein powders like Jay Robb really do make a difference in protein shakes. They blend well with the ingredients and you can’t taste the grainy textures of the usual protein powders. I can’t wait to try the other flavors and also make my Choco Coconut Protein pancake.

This frothy goodness hit the spot after a hot run. It reminded me of summers spent in Hawaii. I daydreamed for awhile 🙂

Thank you Jay Robb for sending me the goodies.

They also offered my friends a 15% discount when you order online. Use promo code BLOGCOCONUT813. Offer good until October 13, 2010. It’s a good deal compared to the retail prices at stores.

Jay Robb is also launching the new edition of their weekly newsletter in a few weeks.  It will be a weekly, one-page newsletter that offers discounts on Jay Robb products and features recipes using Jay Robb Protein.

Which Jay Robb protein powders have you tried? What are your favorite protein flavors?

Just found your blog. I love coconut too.

I like using Jay Robb protein powders but I’m allergic to dairy so I use the egg white protein powder. I like vanilla because it’s versatile and you can mix different fruits and flavors.

I look forward to reading more of your blog.

    • Hi Maria,

Thanks for visiting my blog. Yeah, I heard good things about the egg white protein powders too but I’ve been warned not to use it for baking. though so I’ve used only rice or whey protein powders for baking.
