I am back home from my trip to San Francisco for a friends wedding. I loved everything about the weekend. The wedding was beautiful and emotional. We had a blast at the reception. Everyone was in a celebratory mood and it was great to hangout with my high school friends all over again. Most of us met each other in the beginning of high school and years later, I’m grateful that we all have remained closed. It was so much fun to have all of us together in one place. I’m sad that our time in San Francisco went by so quickly. I’m looking forward to many more celebrations in the future.
If you missed my last post on Friday when I flew into San Francisco, you can check it out here.
After the church rehearsal on Friday evening, the wedding party had our rehearsal dinner at The Silver Palace Restaurant.
If you like your drink with a LOT of alcohol, then I recommend getting the Mai tai cocktail. It was very strong. I had 2 sips and I was done. It didn’t help that I drank it with an empty stomach, so I could not handle it before dinner.
My friends + Mai Tais. Cheers!!
These are only a few of the dishes from dinner. I forgot to photograph the rest of our dinner 😦 My favorite was the veggie dish with shrimp. There were 10 of us seated in one table and we ate all the food served except for the last dish which was the spicy noodles.
Wine bottles for our table. However, I didn’t drink any.
Dessert was a small bowl with deep fried banana, fortune cookie and a scoop of ice cream.
After dinner, a group of us wanted more dessert and drove to Fenton’s Creamery for some ice cream delight. It was my first visit at Fenton’s, this place is an ice cream lover’s dream. You better come with an appetite because the servings are huge.
We all shared the sundaes so that the whole group can taste all the different flavors. Each sundae had 2 scoops of ice cream topped with whipped cream, hot fudge and cherries.
My creation = Banana Nut + Coffee Cookie Dream topped with Dark Chocolate Oreo
2nd Sundae: Cheesecake + Bubble Gum
3rd Sundae: Mango Sherbet + Mint Chocolate
4th Sundae : Cookies and Cream
My favorites: Dark Chocolate Oreos and Banana Nut ice cream
I had a taste of each ice cream flavors we ordered and my favorite was my pick, Banana Nut. It had a lot of walnuts and also a strong banana flavor. I would definitely order it again.
My least favorite was the bubble gum flavor, it just tasted very processed. Maybe I was just turned off by the blue food coloring.
I definitely splurged during our visit to Fenton’s. We didn’t finish any of our sundaes and took a lot of leftover ice cream back to the hotel. It was fun while it lasted but I woke up with a sugar hangover feeling the morning after. That part was not fun 😦
Since I don’t eat a lot of sugar in my daily food, I can definitely feel the effect sugar has on me now. I made sure I drank a lot of water before going to bed to help with the sugar high and the sugar crash I knew was going to happen to me the next morning. I don’t eat ice cream on a normal basis, so enjoying it once in awhile is fine for me because I consider it as a treat.
Those ice cream sundaes look incredible! I love ice cream but the dairy + sugar (!!!) make me feel so sick, so I only eat it very rarely, like once per month maximum.
I know exactly what you mean. I feel the same way. The timing of my ice cream splurge couldn’t have come at a better time, the night before the wedding 😦
I giggled a little in the extreme difference between the rehearsal dinner I went to compared to yours… I guess it all depends on where you’re from, huh?
It looks like fun, though! And yes, the sugar hangover is not a good one. I eat way less of it than I used to- so I’m much more aware of the feeling when I’ve had too much… ick.
Amy,
Yeah I agree. I’ve been to several rehearsal dinners and they all have been different too. It all depends on the couple. I went to one where it was a beach party with bonfire and marshmallows 🙂
Hi Lea, welcome to blogging! 🙂 Thanks for entering my giveaway!
The dumplings and fried banana from dinner look amazing! Those are massive sundaes – I think I like the look of that bubblegum ice cream the best!
We are big fans of Fentons. What a great way to end a very memorable event. We’re glad to have found your blog!
