California Gurls

Even though a little delayed, I landed safely in San Francisco. I took the BART from the airport to Embarcadero where my friend Charlene was waiting for me.

I think using the BART is the easiest way to get to the city. It was a hot day today and I was sweating walking a few blocks with my luggage

After a quick refresher, Charlene and I walked over to Fillmore. During our walk, we passed by Victorian style houses. No matter how many times I come to San Francisco (3rd trip this year), looking at these houses never gets old.

We got hungry for our late lunch around 1pm and stopped at La Boulange Cafe & Bakery in Fillmore. We were offered mini sliders as their special for the day. We said no thanks.

Charlene ordered their open faced sandwich with smoked salmon and salad.

I ordered the Portobello Veggie Burger with brie, arugula, tomato and aioli.

It was really yummy, the texture was perfect. I really need to learn how to make this at home.

We knew we wanted dessert after, how can we resist these?

Macarons de Paris

I decided to get almond croissant, because I wanted to take advantage of their jam and Nutella bar.

The jams were too sweet. I liked the croissant and Nutella combo best. We shared half and took home the rest.

More exploring  and window shopping around Fillmore.

Starbucks, Peet’s Coffee & The Coffee Bean & Tea is one corner? Really?

We walked up a few hills. I was out of breath a few times.

It was worth the hike and we reached the highest peak of Lafayette Park and saw this wonderful view.

Later in the evening, we visited my friend Lizelle and met her new puppy ChouChou. She’s so cute.

Dinner was around the corner and we ate at Sushi House in Alameda. We stayed close to Oakland airport because another friend was flying in to join us for our girls trip to Napa.

Sushi for 5, sushi sticks.

All the sushi were really delicious and fresh. The sushi roll sizes were large for a decent price.

  1. Those Mr. Men mugs are so cute! I remember reading those books when I was a kid!

Enjoy your vacation Lea — your suite looks lovely!

  2. Annette (Defiant Vegan) says:

Wow what an amazing adventure. My friends have talked about going to Napa and I’ve always wanted to go. My favorite thing is seeing all the green and lush vegetation, Fresh air at last.

I can just taste it. 😛

Those pictures are beautiful and I wish I was there too. LOL

Enjoy and have fun with the ladies.

    *cheers*

  3. Looks like a blast! I think it’s probably kind of inappropriate for me to be craving a glass of wine though at 8:30 am. I suppose I’ll settle for coffee…

    • Sarah, it’s Friday so wine at 8:30am is sort of appropriate. Put it in a coffee mug, lol!

It was fun hanging out together for lunch, sorry the food was a little bleh. We’ll need to find a good lunch place next time.

  4. Looks like you had a great day, there are so many things i want to say about it! You’re having so much fun up there, and the food looks so delicious. ESPECIALLY that almond croissant. I love almond croissants! And your friend’s sandwich looked huge. Also, is that a french bulldog? I want a french bulldog SO badly. Hopefully when (if) we ever move into a bigger place i’ll be able to get one.

  5. I’m green with envy when I look at your SF pics.. amazing SUSHI! I miss the city a lot, it’s been 10 years since I last went there and it’s still on my top 3 best cities in the world list 🙂 ENJOY!!!

  6. Looks like your having so much fun! And eating delicious food, of course! The pictures of the Victorian Style houses totally remind me of Full House! It was based in San Fran, after all. 🙂

Also, I love your purple top! So cute!

  7. SUSHI STICKS!

@ ROXANNE – That’s my doggie. She’s a wonderful pup. You need to get one!!! They are so worth the investment. There will never be a gray day in our home!! She is a breathe of fresh air… a BIG RAY OF SUNSHINE!!! BTW her name is Chouchou (shoo-shoo) means sweetheart in French.

Fabulous blog LEA (always). We have two more days of blogging our adventures. Can’t wait to see what comes next….

  8. Ooops – I guess I am on Lea’s login… this is her friend Lizelle
