On my days off from work, I play chauffeur to my mom and my aunt. They love to plan the places they would like to visit and tell me their to-do list. They get excited when I’m not working so that they can have their playtime outside of the house.
With the rain pouring for the last 3 consecutive days, they are getting restless just staying in.
This week I took them sightseeing in Pasadena. We checked out a neighborhood, where the tradition of showcasing Christmas decorations and lights outside their homes attract many locals. It’s called Candy Cane Lane near Pasadena.
I was the designated driver so my sister took these pictures from the car. We were too cold to walk around the neighborhood 😦
I want to go back and see more. The neighborhood is quite big and there were plenty of streets to check out. Maybe next time we will have better weather and I can walk around with hot chocolate in my hand 🙂
Breakfast this morning was a delicious spinach and egg sandwich. I made egg omelet using 1 whole egg + 2 egg whites. I toasted whole wheat bagel thins and add spinach and cheese.
I’ve been enjoying bagel thins bread lately. My favorite brand is Earthgrains and Thomas Bagels.
Lunch was tofu stir-fry, made very similar to my cabbage stir-fry. I make a big batch and will eat it for a few meals. All Trader Joe’s ingredients.
- Trader Joe’s Extra firm Tofu (white/yellow container)
- Trader Joe’s General Tsao Stir Fry Sauce
- Stir-fry ready pack vegetables
During the busy holiday season, my everyday meals tend to be more simple because more time are being spent baking and creating more indulgent desserts in the kitchen 🙂
I can’t believe Christmas is almost here.
This Christmas will be my last in my 20’s and my last Christmas being single. It will be a whole new ballgame next Christmas being newlyweds. It’s a new chapter…I am definitely excited for all the new things to come.
WOW! That is a lot of lights. We haven’t driven around yet to see any of the well decorated neighborhoods- we need to get on that. Josh and I are both big fans of bagel thins too. They’re great for breakfast or for sandwiches. I am ready (I think!) for Christmas
Good thing the neighborhoods stays lit and decorated even after Christmas, hopefully you’ll get a chance to check it out. I’ll be excited to see your pictures. I love Christmas lights.

Thanks Annette for the info. I’ve never heard of the Balian house but I was told about the Christmas Tree lane but ran out of time to check it out.

Both of my parents are originally from San Diego, so Cali is close to my heart. 🙂
Your pics are of of the annual Upper Hastings Ranch Christmas light up. It lasts 2 weeks in Dec, There is no Candy Cane Lane in Pasadena. I’ve lived there since 1948 and in the 70’s I owned a home there on Hastings Ranch Dr.
