After my family’s Christmas Eve party, I woke up early on Christmas Day ready to greet the day 🙂
I was the first one to wake up. So I made a pot of coffee and sat down near the fireplace and just relaxed. Ahhhhh, I love the smell of Christmas and being surrounded by everything that celebrates Christmas.
I got some baking done before we headed out to church for Christmas Day mass.
Candy Cane flavored Hershey Kisses. These are so pretty but too bad they’re only available during holiday season.
Let me tell you that waking up to the aroma of chocolate and peppermint on Christmas morning is the quickest way to get everyone in the kitchen.
As much as we wanted to eat these cookies for breakfast, I baked them for the fiance’s family party later in the day.
Chocolate Peppermint Cookies (recipe adapted from here). I didn’t refrigerate the dough. It still turned out well.
I also baked some snack bars to give to my sister to snack on during her vacation. Can you guess where she is going? Lucky girl!
After mass, we went to lunch and headed back home to open a few presents.
Me and the fiance opened a few of our gifts under the tree. My sister and my mom also opened theirs.
After our fun gift exchange, me and the fiance headed over to his family’s Christmas party.
Later in the evening at home, we opened the rest of our gifts.
One of the things he made for me was so sweet. He made me a DVD that summarized our year. The soundtrack was “Secrets”, one of the songs we both love after seeing Disney’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” movie.

Love the picture of him reading my card 🙂
I love reading personal notes and I especially love my Christmas card from my mom. She has a way with words that make you feel really special.
How were the hershey kisses? I forgot to buy them! Hopefully I can find them on sale somewhere…maybe…pooey. What a sweet gift from the fiance!
Hi Cristina, the hershey kisses are good. They are mostly white chocolate on the inside and the peppermint part is on the outside. The flavor isn’t too strong but enough to give the cookies a good and different flavor. Definitely a Christmas flavor.
Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those cookies look delish! =D
Merry, merry Christmas! What beautiful pictures!
I love his face too looking at your card – too cute 🙂
