That’s Amore

600 miles and 24 hours later, I am home sweet home.

I don’t know when I’ve felt more tired, driving solo for 4 hours or the morning after a long race? 4 hours is the longest time I have ever been driven straight and I did it twice in the last 24 hours.  I did the return trip solo today. Yay, I’m quiet proud of myself.

It was a fun trip, too bad it was too short.

Last night we left the suburbs and headed 3o minutes south, towards The Strip and main hub of Las Vegas.

Our destination was The Venetian Hotel.

We had dinner at one of the restaurants in the hotel, Noodle Asia.

We drank tea before dinner. Cool BUT very heavy tea pot.

There were 5 of us dining, so we each ordered a dish and shared it family style.

I ordered a chicken and broccoli dish above. I asked for a light sauce. It was tasty without being too heavy, like typical Chinese dishes are prepared.

I’m not really the type to rave about Chinese food, but I must say that the dishes at the restaurant tasted really fresh and really flavorful. I was actually surprised.

After dinner, we walked around the hotel in search for dessert and do some window shopping.

We found some very tempting desserts right away but we wanted something a little lighter, so we passed on these goodies at Tintoretto Bakery.

When in Italy, do what Italians do, eat Gelato.

What a cute little cup of gelato. Perfect serving size to satisfy my sweet tooth.

My gelato mix = coconut and pistachio

If budget doesn’t allow you to make a trip to Italy this year, then I think staying at the Venetian hotel is the second best option.

When the moon hits you eye like a big pizza pie
That’s amore
When the world seems to shine like you’ve had too much wine
That’s amore

I love the ambiance of this place. I have stayed in the hotel before and it is worth the price if you are celebrating something special. You feel really pampered when staying at the Venetian.

Before heading out for the road this morning. Other family members from around Las Vegas joined us for  breakfast.

Strong coffee was in order.  Scrambled egg + 3 egg whites for my plate.

Blueberry yogurt with a cup of fresh blueberries to round out my meal.

I left Las Vegas right after our late breakfast. I didn’t stop to eat lunch but just snacked while on the road and ate a lot of fruits, crackers, snack bars and plenty of water.

I drove solo and was home in 4 hours. My mom and aunt will continue their Vegas fun until this weekend.

I’m off to bed. I’ve got work early tomorrow morning.
