Chelsea Lately Show

It has been awhile since I bought soymilk, I’ve been using almond milk for years because I prefer the taste of it.

Last week at Wholefoods, I picked up a new-to-me Earth Balance soymilk. I like it. I’ve forgotten how creamy soymilk can be or it could be that this brand is the creamy kind.

I have been using the milk as my coffee creamer and also adding it to my oatmeal. Soymilk + mashed banana = bowl of creamy oatmeal goodnessIMG_5512aIMG_5513a

I’ve also enjoyed the soymilk with my smoothies. I made it extra thick and added xantham gum. This way I can spoon it and eat it with some granola on top.

Purple Potion Smoothie

  • 1 cup soymilk
  • 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 small very ripe banana
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 2 pinches of xantham gum
  • a couple of  ice cubes
  • sweetener of choice if needed (I didn’t use any)

Blend, blend, blend!

It’s definitely on the warmer side of spring season now and I have been enjoying smoothies every day.

This purple bowl tasted like frozen yogurt to me 🙂

Chelsea Lately Show

My friends and I recently attended a taping of the Chelsea Lately show. We had a great time being in the audience. I find Chelsea’s jokes funny and I like her sense of humor. Like most show tapings, the audience are cued to laugh and clap and say ooooh and aaaahhhs. But I naturally laughed at her jokes, no cueing needed for me.

It was fun to finally see Chelsea in person. She is beautiful and much smaller in person too. If you bring her book to the taping, she personally signed each one during our taping.

The taping we attended aired last week. Zooey Deschanel was the guest. She is such a quirky actress and I’ve enjoyed her roles, especially her role as Summer in the movie “500 Days of Summer”. Remember when I sat on the same bench used in the movie?

The studio where the show is taped is small. Picture a small conference room. But we sat on the back side and unfortunately, were not part of the audience that was shown on TV.

But I caught one of Chuy’s balls. Chuy is Chelsea’s assistant/side kick on the show.

Here we are before and after the taping (no cameras are allowed in the studio). The taping went by so quickly, it lasted about 30 mins.  Afterwards, we enjoyed Taco Tuesdays after the show.

  1. I use almond milk regularly in my smoothies, baking and in hot chocolate. Its so delicious! I like the unsweetened vanilla from Almond Breeze best. I do enjoy soy milk, but I try to limit my intake. I occasionally get it in my starbucks drinks. Thats so fun that you went to see Chelsea! I think she is completely hilarious

  2. That smoothie looks pretty amazing!!! 😀
So cool that you went to the taping of the show! Sounds like a lot of fun!!!!

  3. Wow those oats do look incredibly creamy! I alternate between soy milk and almond milk depending on which is cheaper at the time. To me they both taste pretty similar. I currently have vanilla almond breeze. It’s delish 😀

  4. I’m lactose intolerant so for a while I was only using Lactaid brand milk but for the past several months I have been in love with 8th Continent Soymilk! I love it! Although, after seeing how creamy this milk looks, I definitely think I’m going to have to give it a try! 🙂 That oatmeal looks so delicious!
