Coast to Coast

Thank you to Yahoo! Mail for sponsoring this post about staying connected. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

Recently Chris traveled for a week to the East Coast for a work conference. He went to Virginia. Our different schedules and time difference often made it a challenge to catch up with each other during our breaks. He was also a speaker during his conference and the preparation kept him busy.

Thru emails, we were able to write and keep each other in the loop of our every day activities. Some emails were long and some were also short. Just each time we thought of each other, we would send a quick email and say hello.

Chris shared with me the view from his room, the sun rising in the morning from the East Coast.

I shared with him the beautiful sunset I caught while driving along the coast here in our home in Southern California.

Because of technology, there are so many ways to keep in touch with loved ones these days. Personally, if I can’t talk to Chris or to a friend or a family member immediately, I am quick to write an email. I love to write, either long letter or quick notes just to say hello and keep in touch.

With a week away from our wedding day, it feels special for me to look back at the time when Chris and I first started dating.

We wrote emails to each other a lot and they were very lengthy. I’m glad I saved ALL of them 🙂

We saw each other on weekends and maybe one night during the week. We relied on emails on staying in touch on days we didn’t see each other. We had different work schedule. Our hobbies also kept us busy when we were not with each other. I would go running after dinner and Chris went diving after work.

No matter how busy we were, we communicated very well. Which for me, is very important when you are first starting out in new relationship. I can remember being out late with my girlfriends and coming home really excited to check my email hoping there was a letter from Chris in my inbox.

I still remember the bar stool I used to sit on in my apartment just typing away and letting him know about my day and all the things we would talk about while getting to know each other.

Ahhh…memories! What a special time that was. Now we begin our life as husband and wife and I look forward to creating many many more memories for us.

Check out this video on sharing photo slide shows, the old school way.  Can you imagine if we had to share photos that way?

How do you keep in touch with your loved ones?

  1. So cute 🙂 Josh and I had to have a long distance relationship for a while and it was tough! Emails, texts and long phone calls definitely made things 100% easier. Your wedding is SO close!

  2. I love to talk on the phone to keep in touch with my friends and family. But if they are not available, I send emails too. Long emails and sometimes with pictures.

That’s good that you saved all the emails, now they have sentimental value.

  3. Aw! That is so cute! I still have every single email that my fiance and I have sent each other too. I love going back and reading them. It truly makes you fall in love all over again. 🙂

  4. Facebook is definitely how I keep in touch with old friends. I prefer phone calls to family though!

  5. Aaaaw! Especially living out of the country, I love to keep in touch with friends and family though facebook, email and skype!!!!

  6. I think SKYPE is the best thing ever! I am able to keep in touch with a lot of my good friends that play professionally overseas and its free! Otherwise mostly facebook and email!

  7. It’s crazy how connected we can stay nowadays I agree. ohhh this post is so cute, it made me get all giggly inside! haha that’s a really cute video. Lea i’m soooo excited for you!

  8. I mostly stay in touch with my parents though e-mail. That just tends to be what works best for them! But for my friends back home, I’m a total texter!

    Hey Lea,
I totally love this post the expressive ways you discussed made me feel the love you both feel towards each other. Sweet.

I like the videos they used so cute.

Well I stay in touch by text messaging and sometimes a quick phone call through out the day.

I get excited just out of the blue hearing sweet somethings from my man.
(I like the way I say it sweet somethings because it is unlike Sweet nothings. LOL)

Beautiful sunset that was was great.

  10. I love emailing my mom but my dad won’t budge on it being too unpersonalized

  11. The Teenage Taste says:
