Wedding Recap – Getting Ready

Me, my mom and my two sisters left our hotel early in the morning to board the first boat out to the wedding venue.

We arrived at the wedding venue at Las Caletas after forty-five minutes on the boat. We were immediately escorted to the bridal casita, where we relaxed until it was time to get ready for the wedding.

We got massages at the spa, we spent time exploring the beach and relaxing on hammocks. We ate lunch next to the water.

After lunch, we took a nap and soon after 2pm, it was time to get ready for hair and make-up.

Fernando, who did my hair and make-up did a great job. Even without any test runs with him, I was assured that he was good, so I had no worries.

He brought a ton of make-up and let me pick a color palette that I love to wear. I asked a lot of questions while he did my make-up, so I got plenty of tutorials in the process.

Considering the humidity in Mexico, I nixed the idea of wearing all of my hair down. I decided to do half up and half down with plenty of volume. It worked out perfectly for my veil too. My hair stayed in tight curls until it was time to put on my dress. Then he loosened the curls and did the final touches at the last minute.

I am so grateful and happy that my mom was able to travel and be there on my wedding day, after being hospitalized a few months before the wedding. It meant a lot that she was there to witness all of it.

After everyone was ready and all glammed out, we drank some bubbly to celebrate.

My sister looked so beautiful. She was a glowing mommy.

Our bridal casita was in a secluded place on top of a hill. The breeze was nice and cool outside, it was a perfect place to get ready and do the final touches.

My wedding dress is by Justin Alexander. I only visited one salon to look for a dress and I knew it was the one once I put it on.

I loved the fit and all the details that were just in the right places.

I felt beautiful and comfortable and most importantly, I felt like “me”. It was the dress I wanted to wear, the day I would marry my husband.

This is the moment where I saw the boat arrived with Chris and our wedding guests on board. I could see them, but they could not see me.

I was filled with emotions, knowing our friends and family came all the way to Mexico to celebrate our wedding. I could not wait to see them.

I felt so relaxed surrounded by nature, the birds chirping and monkeys playing in the background. Being around my sisters and my mom was also really special because I wanted to spend alone time with them before the wedding.

I was relaxed and ready. Ready to get started with the festivities. Ready to get married. Ready to see Chris again.

I hid in my bridal casita while Chris got ready in the spa next door. I headed to the wedding venue in the morning and Chris arrived with our wedding guests late in the afternoon. We texted all day long to check in on each other. While I was relaxing on the beach, he was relaxing at the pool back in the hotel.

We picked out his linen suit together. He looked so handsome.
