Fish Friday & Sisterly Love Photoshoot

On Friday evenings, the mood around the house is more relax than the rest of the week. We are getting ready for the weekend and we take more time preparing our dinner.

As I mentioned before, it has been a good fishing season for Chris so our fish supply is abundant. We have a full freezer, including the freezer we have in the garage to hold all of Chris’s catch.

Poke (poo-kei) salad is on the menu. Poke what? Poke is a Hawaiian cuisine, it’s a raw fish salad that is normally served as an appetizer. Chris loves to eat it on a bed of brown rice. Although I love the flavor, I don’t really like raw fish so I pick around the fish and eat the onions and seaweeds.

We both love eating grilled vegetables with any fish dish, so we had plenty of that too. You can see how we prepare our grilled vegetables –> here.

Chris also grilled more fresh fish, marinated in Italian dressing since he knows I am not going to eat too much of the poke salad.

Sisterly Love

This year has been a great year for all of us sisters. We are celebrating great milestone in our lives.

I got married in May.

My sister Berna had her first baby (and my first nephew) Jonah.

My sister Janell is graduating from Dental Hygiene school.

My youngest sister Hazel is celebrating her 18th Birthday with a grand party called “Debut” as a Filipino tradition in October. A Debut Party is similar to Sweet 16 Party or Quinceanera.

Hazel and I spent an afternoon in the park so I could take some pictures of her.

She needed some shots for the party’s program, as well as a framed picture where the party guests will sign.

We headed to a Sculpture Garden and she posed away. Here are some of my favorite pictures from that afternoon.

I’m happy that she is happy with the pictures we took. I can’t wait to see which one she will pick for the party.

I’ve never really taken headshot type of pictures so it was a good practice. It was fun hanging out together and spending the afternoon together.

  1. Love this post. I too am very close to my sisters. And oh my gosh I remember my debut (12 years ago!)

    • Thanks. How fun that you had a debut 🙂 I didn’t have one because my 18th Bday was around the same time as my high school graduation so we just had a graduation party instead. Do you have pictures from your debut on your blog? If not, you should post it as a flashback type of post. I would love to see it.
