What I Ate – Weekend in Las Vegas

Our Vegas fun continues…..

I was the last one to arrive in Las Vegas to meet up with the rest of the family. After I arrived at the airport, the husband whisked me away and we dropped off my luggage in our hotel room.

Next thing in order was brunch at Grand Luxe Cafe at The Venetian with the rest of the family.

Refreshing drinks for everyone. Non-alcoholic drinks served on wine glasses, it makes a meal feel more fancy.

I ordered a pizza & salad combo. This was one of the best BBQ pizza I’ve ever tasted. The dough was the best and I could have just eaten the pizza dough and be happy. I believe it was a wood-fired pizza.

I took a few bites of the husband’s plate.

This was delicious too. He ordered an egg dish (the eggs are buried under there) served with salsa, chips, avocado, cilantro and corn.

After brunch, we had a fun day filled with shopping….

Window shopping at Fashion Show mall.

and plenty of sightseeing and checking out what’s new. I love looking at architecture and interior designs, so I always try to go into each hotel we pass by and check out the decor.

Some hotels in Vegas changes decor each season, so even if we travel to Vegas a few times a year, there’s always something new to look at.

Later in the afternoon, we headed away from the Strip and found ourselves at the racing track.

We bought 1 hour of unlimited pass for all the tracks. We had a blast.

Before we knew it, it was time to head back to our hotel to get ready for our dinner plans.

We went to Mandalay Bay hotel and ate at their buffet restaurant called Bayside Buffet. I’ve been to several buffet restaurants in Vegas but this is the first one where there was a beautiful view.

I loved the seafood dishes and I ate all sorts of fish, paella with shrimp and sushi.

Whenever I go to a buffet, I try to make it a goal to try food that I don’t normally cook at home….to try and be adventurous and try something new. A little  nibble here and tiny nibble there. I tried a slice of exotic cheese and it was strong and pungent. Not my cup of tea but I’m glad I tried it.

The dessert buffet was set-up on it’s own and was displayed on the other side of the restaurant. I only had little room left in my belly so I just made sure to pick up my favorites….mini coconut pie and a macaroon.

Love this. It was light but you can still taste the coconut flavor.

After the buffet, we walked around the casino and had fun gambling. My mother-in-law won $700 playing the penny slots!!!!

The next morning…it was time to pack and drive home.

After we crossed the Nevada border going into Cali border…we hit some traffic 😦  But knowing that we would have Chipotle for lunch made the long drive easier to swallow.

When we visited Las Vegas last November, we stopped by the same Chipotle restaurant on our way home. I think we’ve been to this Chipotle restaurant four times in a time span of less than a year and it’s hundreds of miles away from home. Go figure.

Spring Break fun is done. The End.

  4. It sounds like you guys are having a great vacation!!!! 🙂

  5. I drink water out of a wine glass sometimes, just for fun. It makes me laugh and feel fancy. I have the same approach as you when it comes to buffets. And eating out, in general. Why stick with the stuff you know you can handle at home?
