One of the main reasons that I started this blog was to have an online journal that I can look back years from now and be reminded of the things I did, foods I ate and places I went.
I’ve always enjoyed reading other blog posts that were similar to a journal entry. I enjoy the format that Christina follows for her Friday Five posts and her posts have inspired me to do the same. At the end of the summer, I can read these posts and re-live the glory days of Summer 2012 all over again.

Where I’ve been relaxing
I know that summer has just started but I feel like I already found my favorite place for rest and relaxation. We spent the first week of summer in Mammoth. This is the third annual Mammoth trip and each year, I appreciate the place more and more. Just looking at the picture below relaxes my muscles again.
The lakes in Mammoth are so beautiful and peaceful. You can spend a whole day on a boat reading (me) or fishing (the husband). Just being away from the hustle and bustle of the city, away from the smog, it does so much for your soul.
{Scratched off one item on my Summer Manifesto. –> spend time at a lake}

What I’ve been wearing
I am mad for stripes lately. I mean, I usually pick bold colors and bright patterns when it comes to my clothes but recently, I’ve been wearing a lot of stripes.
I love this stripe dress from Kohl’s. I wore it during a dinner date with my friend Sarah. I met her at the restaurant and saw that we were wearing the same colors and stripe patterns.
I told you I love this dress. I’ve been wearing it everywhere.
Weekend wear. Linen shorts and stripe tank top. Toms shoes and Nike bracelet.
Another stripe dress, this is from Banana Republic. Appropriate for work and also for dinner with friends afterwards.

What I’ve been reading
In the last week, I’ve read two books. Both of them are contemporary romance and basically a chick lit (girly girl literature).
One of the books I read was Jodi Picoult’s book, Harvesting the Heart. I finished it in 2 days while relaxing at the lake.
I really like the book, It had a good plot and I enjoyed reading it. It’s a story about emotional pain, love, and vulnerability. It involves marriage, motherhood and plenty of romance. I learned something from the mother/daughter relationship in this book.
I’m not much of a critic when it comes to books. I just want to be absorbed and entertained by the stories and be able to believe what the characters are going thru.

Have you read any books lately? Do you have any book recommendations?

I need to read more of Jodi Picoult’s books. I’ve only read House Rules. Which would you recommend first? LOVE that dress. I swear, every SINGLE outfit you wear, I’d wear it too.
If you lived closer, we could swap clothes 🙂 I’ve only read 2 books by Jodi Picoult, My Sister’s Keeper and Harvesting The Heart. I want to read more of her books though. I want to read Picture Perfect next.
Loving your post – great photos – thanks for sharing! Have a Great Weekend:)
