I love doing these posts at the end of the month, a quick snap shot of what happened in the month. As I was perusing my phone for the pictures, I saw a repeated theme, that was FOOD!
I’ve worked hard to simplify our life and not over commit ourselves and to keep it simple but since it’s the holidays, it was great to do a lot of socializing with friends and family, I just love this season.
As you can see from the pictures, Thanksgiving was celebrated all month long. We celebrated on actual Thanksgiving day with family from my husband’s side. It was hosted a few miles from us so we loved that and also loved the view we had eating outdoors. We had very warm weather so we ate outdoors and watched the sunset. Little man enjoyed all the attention from everyone, he is the only baby around. The day after Thanksgiving, I hosted my family at our house. It was my first time hosting and cooking all the traditional sides, my sister brought the deep fried Turkey. We couldn’t really tell it was deep fried though, I was expecting more of a crisp exterior. The jalapeno dip & pretzel bread, sangria, corn pudding and blueberry pies were the crowd favorites this year. I learned a lot about hosting this year, and have lots of mental notes for next year.
Earlier this month, we took our family pictures in Fullerton. My little man did great and we got some great shots of him. It only took a year, but I’ve finally printed and framed the pictures taken from last year.
Mid November, we had our annual Thanksgiving luncheon at work. I think that’s the meal that I’ve savored the most this month. I was relaxed, not hurried, not hosting, not socializing, no kiddo, just eating and enjoying my meal. I really savored each bite and took notice of the flavors. I even took a picture of my pretty plate.
I also finished a few books this month…AAANNNNDDD, I went to a coffee shop alone and enjoyed my latte and read a book!!! That has never happened since I’ve become a mom, it was good for my soul. My mommy book club also had a Thanksgiving potluck and it was great to connect with other moms over wine and food. We also hosted Friendsgiving party for my high school friends (more pictures on this post).
Our weather has been great so we have been spending time outdoors when we can. It’s been super windy all month long though, so lots of leaves and trash getting trap in our yard, which little man loves to play with. Homemade pizza night happened and need to happen more often in the future. We also attended Friendsgiving with my college friends and sorority sisters. We drove to Gloria’s house about an hour away to see everyone. I brought chocolate trifle cake.
We are starting to introduce baby H to the Elf on Shelf book (the book was an early gift to him from Uncle Tom & Aunt Caroline) and he looks for elf everyday around the play room.
I am so grateful for my life, my friends and family. We had a gratitude tree and asked all our guests to write something they were grateful for. I loved reading everyone’s notes and will save them so we can look over for years to come.
