cranberry margaritas

I am excited for this week, there are so many good things happening. Feasting, baking, cooking, family time and down time Smile

I’m sharing this festive drink in time for Thanksgiving. I made these last year when I hosted Friendsgiving, it was a great touch to have a festive drink ready once the guests started trickling in. I got oohhs and aaahhhs from everyone. It’s refreshing and also pretty.

I’ve hosted many parties but last year was the first time I made an effort to create a festive drink. I loved it and will do it again. I prepped the drink ahead of time and had it cooling in the fridge, so all I had to do was pour in individual glasses. I also made another batch for a mocktail with no liquor added.

I got the clear glass bottle from Target and we love our citrus juicer from Sur La Table

CRANBERRY MARGARITAS

Sweet and tart cranberry juice makes for extra festive margaritas!

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 1/2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
  • 3/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 cup tequila
  • 1/2 cup orange-flavored liqueur (I used Triple Sec)
  • 4 tablespoon simple syrup ***
    • Coarse sugar or salt
    • Ice cubes
    • Lime wedges and/or fresh cranberries, for garnish
DIRECTIONS:

Stir all ingredients together until blended.  Serve over ice in sugar- or salt-rimmed glasses, garnished with fresh cranberries and lime wedges if desired.

****In a small saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water.  (I usually use 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar, and just keep it on hand during the holiday season when I make festive drinks). Cook over medium-high heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves completely. Transfer to a heat-proof glass container like mason jars and refrigerate until well chilled, about 30 minutes before use in a drink.  Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator up to 2 months.
