what we ate / thanksgiving dinner

Happy Thanksgiving week. I’m excited to spend time with family and friends as we celebrate Thanksgiving day on Thursday.

I’m lucky to have majority of my family and friends nearby. We get to celebrate holidays together, which makes it more special. Hubby and I used to drive all over town to celebrate Thanksgiving at 3 different houses all in one day.  Once H was born, I offered to host Thanksgiving for my family and also move our dinner the day after on Friday. This way, we get to enjoy and relax with both sides of our family, without being rushed on time.

Last year we didn’t have a Turkey (but this year we are ordering one), instead we had salmon and ham as our main entree.

Here are the food I prepared and enjoyed at last year’s Thanksgiving dinner.  Some of the side dishes will be a repeat this year, BUT I like to try new recipes, so there will be new ones as well.

Autumn Chopped Salad

(I brought this salad at our Friendsgiving and also at my inlaws house. I also made it for the dinner party I hosted. It’s good)

Sweet Potato Casserole (recipe from How Sweet Eats)

I adapted from the original recipe and doubled the topping as well. I made this 3 times for Thanksgiving last year, same parties as above.
