A cup of Pumpkin Pie

I was excited to wake up today because we had a special family event to go to AND because I was excited to try my new cup of pumpkin pie that I picked up this week.

Pumpkin Pie coming right up. The coffee aroma filled our dining room and I couldn’t wait to drink a sip of this pie.

I am normally a tea drinker but I use my french press on days when I have more time in the morning. The whole process of preparing and drinking from french press makes me feel like I am in Europe and drinking coffee from Paris in a french bakery.

Certain food or aroma transfers me to a place in time or it lets me imagine how my future travels would feel like.

Almost there 🙂

This breakfast combo makes getting up at “5am-on-a-weekend-to-study” much better.

The coffee had a  “smooth, creamy, pumpkin pie flavor with a hints of clove, cinnamon and ginger” just like the package described.

I am in love with the fluffy pancakes that Kodiak Cake makes.

Anyone has tips on how to make smoother pancakes? I‘m thinking my batter is too diluted?

Served with mashed ripe bananas and toasted almond slivers. No syrup needed for me, the bananas provided enough sweetness.

After a yummy breakfast, I studied for a few more hours. Being out of town the last few weekends, study schedule has not been consistent and I’ve lost some momentum 😦  For me, the key to retaining all the new materials I’m learning is consistency and repetition. Both have been lacking the last few weeks, but I’ve been here before and know how to get back on track.

What is your favorite coffee flavor? Do you brew your own coffee at home? Or Do you buy your coffee from a barista? I almost always make tea or brew coffee at home unless I’m traveling then I drink Starbucks or Peet’s Coffee.

    Lea,

I love your food blog. Me and Jimmy need to do one too. Your breakfast looks so yummy. We are having pastries from La Farine and Drip Filtered Coffee from beans from Spain (La Flor de Cana). Remember the pastries I got for the bridal suite??? Anyway, did you get my text about Jimmy? Send over some designs you both are interested in. Hopefully he can work on them in the next few weeks. He is going back to work next week and then he will out town on business in Colorado and Maryland for the first two weeks of October. =(

TTYL. Look forward to you next posts.

    Love, lizelle your belle

    • Thanks Zelle. Remember when I cooked for you and Jimmy? We should do that again.

You’re having the yummy pastries again, I’m filled with envy. I’m planning to bake today, I have some ripe bananas waiting to be used.

  2. I prefer making my own coffee at home- mostly a budgeting thing. But because I do that, I like to use a little good creamer- my new thing is white chocolate mocha… 🙂

    • I do the same thing Amy. I pack my lunch and make coffee at home to save some $$$. Your creamer sounds delicious, white chocolate mocha? Yum 🙂

My favorite creamer is Hazelnut flavor but I’ve been wanting to try other flavors too.

Same goes here – I prefer making my tea or coffee at home before going to class. Lea, I LOVE the Hazelnut creamer! Did you see that the Pumpkin one came out already? I found one at Von’s and regretted not buying one, but hey you know when you’re on a budget… 😦

  4. Laugh and Cook says:

oh! I forgot to add – where did you get that bag of coffee?

  5. My fave for general drinking is prob The Fresh Market Breakfast Blend. It isn’t really “flavored” but it has a nice, smooth taste. I also really adore their Spring Blend, which is like caramel and vanilla…nommmm!

Your pumpkin pie coffee sounds really yummy! 🙂

    • Hi Diana, thanks for stopping by my blog. I would love to try The Fresh Market coffee brand but I don’t think it’s being sold here in the west coast?

I like Starbucks breakfast blend coffee, it’s light and smooth tasting, good for everyday coffee.

  6. I LOVE pumpkin anything so that coffee has my mouth watering. I cannot find pumpkin spice flavored beans/coffee anywhere in NorCal. Boo!

During the week I brew my own coffee and bring it to work, but on the weekends I splurge and get an Sbux or Peets 🙂

  7. i don’t drink coffee anymore but that sounds right up my alley! i wonder if they make a decaf version?!?

  8. I make my own coffee at home, and right now I have a bag of Starbucks beans that I have been using, but I don’t drink coffee every day, so I don’t really have a favorite.

I do like getting fun creamers for flavoring. Pumpkin coffee sounds delicious! Enjoy!

Yum to your coffee! We have a Keurig at home, so I love getting fun flavored coffees to try, because you can buy them individually at some stores.

As for the pancakes, it could be a thickness thing, like you said. I was thinking it also might be a heat thing too. If the pan is really hot, especially if your batter is diluted, it is going to cook it really fast and make those bubble pockets like you got (I am assuming that is what you meant by smoother?) I have a recipe I usually make and the batter is thicker, and I don’t have those pockets in mine.

    • I’ve tried lowering the heat too. I think the batter is too thin, I was following the package directions. I’m going to lessen the liquid next time and see if that works.

      Thanks Nikki

P.S. If you dig trying fall flavors I have to recommend trying a pumpkin ale if you are into beer from time to time.

  11. OOh, I’m loving the Dulce De Leche flavor I just got from Caftea 🙂 And I would agree, that I am also a tea drinker for the most part! I’m really into Yerba Mate or my own blend of Yogi Tea 🙂

Let me know when you go to book your hotel for the conference! I think I’m coming solo for this trip, so a roomie I am in need of indeed!

  12. Maria @ Kale and Cupcakes says:

I’m actually not a huge coffee drinker, but when I do get the urge, I usually get a Soy Vanilla Latte from Peet’s.

  13. Starbucks Latte is always a treat, though when I brew at home, I use Tassimo single-serve hot bev maker.

  14. Yum! I love when all the holiday flavors come out. The town froyo shop has pumpkin spice out now.

Right now I think I’m drinking a dark roast Columbian, french pressed. One cup lasts me all day and when it’s good coffee, it doesn’t matter that it’s cold. 🙂

    • I agree about the good quality coffee, it makes drinking coffee much more enjoyable and you can drink it hot or cold since it packs a lot of flavor. What brand of dark roast coffee do you use?

  15. Charlene Yamaoka says:

Cool blog Lea! Those pancakes look amazing! I walked by Peet’s yesterday and saw that they have their pumpkin spiced latte…I was good and kept walking, but I don’t know…I may need to go back and give it a try. 😉

    • Charlene,

Hey girl, thanks for reading my blog. Have a treat and have some pumpkin spiced latte, at least once this season. I’m going to do the same but then go back to the kitchen and try to make my own homemade version.

I’ll be in San Fran in November, hopefully we can hangout?

Hope you had a good weekend. It was a scorcher in SoCal this weekend, whoa 116 degrees!!!!

      ~ Lea
